Whether you’re one of those who skipped the campaign to jump straight into multiplayer, or those who completed the story missions on launch day to gawk at all the stunning scenery, most of you have played Call of Duty. You may remember that an open world campaign was planned for Black Ops 3, but it was canceled in favor of more traditional linear missions for the series. So, photos of a stripped-down CoD campaign have leaked to the network.

As reported by Insider Gaming, on the Imgur website images appeared open-world campaign being developed at the time. The first image shows a blueprint for connecting the central world of Singapore to other parts, with the bio-house to the north and the black station to the south.

There is a second section on the map called Chinatown, and it has a key that shows the various penetration points and places where you can get unobtanium. Not sure if “Avatar” owns the trademark for this term, but it’s just an early development, so it might not be the final name for the resource.

A few images then show screenshots of a partially built map of Chinatown with the player running across it, followed by a few more aerial shots of environments that have yet to be fully completed, as well as images of actual inspirations for each segment of the terrain.

The Imgur post, which was made about four hours ago at the time of writing, has over 60 images. Other maps include Downtown, which shows a highway under construction, Hilltop, a more wooded area, and Black Station, hinted at by the Singapore hub shown at the top of the post.

There are also several images of robots and drones, as well as clues about the need to reset the unobtanium. In 2019, Jason Schreier revealed that the Black Ops 3 campaign was cut during a development reshuffle, which reportedly led to an extended period of crisis for many Treyarch employees.
