Scheffler Wins Hero World Challenge, Caps Dominant 2023
Scottie Scheffler clinched the Hero World Challenge title, successfully defending his crown in the unofficial end to the PGA Tour season.
Posting a final round 66, Scheffler finished at 20 under, three strokes clear of runner-up Kevin Kisner. The victory marked Scheffler’s sixth win of the year, tying the PGA Tour record for most wins in a season held by Tiger Woods.
"It’s been a really fun year, any time you can win on TOUR is a good week," Scheffler said after the win. "But yea, to win here at the Hero World Challenge, it’s a huge honor. Along with the rest of the folks who put it together, it’s a real honor to be able to win this one."
Cheffler’s victory came after a compelling week in the Bahamas. He started strong with a bogey-free 63 in the first round, maneuvering himself into a commanding position. Maintaining consistency throughout, he extended his lead and entered the final round with a four-stroke advantage over closest contender, Tom Kim.
Despite the comfortable cushion, Scheffler remained focused, firing a final round 66.
"I try to minimize mistakes, I think that’s my best strategy," Scheffler shared. I’m not going to go out there and try and birdy every hole, but I’m going to try and play smart golf and minimize mistakes."
A Symbolic Victory
This victory embodies Scheffler’s pattern of success, displaying incredible consistency and a steadfast dedication to excellence. While possible, it’s highly improbable that Scheffler’ll ever have this perfect storm of form and opportunity again
"…it’s going to be tough to top this," Scheffler concluded.
