Scots poll shows support for e-cigarettes

Scotch polls show more than 45% want the government to support e-cigarettes. After the Scottish government prepares for a resolution to increase the strict communication of e-cigarettes in stores

A new survey of the Scottish Grocers’ Federation, or SGF, finds that more than 45% of the respondents Agree or strongly agree that the government should encourage smokers to switch to e-cigarettes, and 23% disagree, 23% have no opinion and 9% have no information on the issue.

The survey was conducted following discussions by the Scottish Government. It has suggested that for the sale of e-cigarettes should be banned in stores. It asked a sample of more than 2,000 people in Scotland on topics related to smoking and e-cigarette use. Nearly half of the respondents were smokers or quitters. and one in five is an e-cigarette user.

John Lee, SGF’s head of policy and public affairs, said: “Scots smokers and non-smokers vote for e-cigarettes. And e-cigarette users tell us that they switched to e-cigarettes because it was safer, cheaper and more likely to help them quit,” John said.

The results of the survey indicated that e-cigarette users chose the product because it was cheaper and less harmful, and 41% of respondents said e-cigarettes helped them quit.

John added that “A convenience store that our members would like to participate in encouraging people to quit smoking and switch to electronic cigarettes. to make Scotland smoke-free by 2034.”

“The survey also showed that smokers bought e-cigarettes from convenience stores doubled compared to last year. which in addition to helping to positively affect the local economy It also gives customers confidence in the products they are buying.”

Although using e-cigarettes is less harmful than smoking. But some experts still warn that e-cigarette use can lead to lung and heart health problems. And the long-term effects of chemicals in e-cigarettes are still unknown.

A Scottish Government spokesman said: “E-cigarette products are a useful tool for people trying to quit smoking. There is an independent study that the government is studying on additional restrictions on and support for e-cigarettes to be published this summer. And this policy will be used in decision-making on related policies in the future.”
