The members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ratified this Thursday the importance of increasing their role in the construction of a new world order in the face of the changes that are being generated in global politics.
Following the 24th meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State held in Kazakhstan, the Astana Declaration was adopted, which highlights the creation of a more just and multipolar world order.
“A more just and multipolar world order is being created, the possibilities of development of States and mutually beneficial and equal cooperation are being expanded,” says the text, cited by Russian media.
However, it also warns that the use of forceful methods is increasing, as well as the systematic violation of the norms of international law and the increase in geopolitical conflicts, causing the risks for regional and global stability to multiply.
The States that make up the organization stated that it is necessary to “increase the role of the SCO in the creation of a new democratic, fair, political and economic international order.”
For his part, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, highlighted that the Astana Declaration contemplates “the coordinated approaches of the SCO countries in relation to key aspects of the global and regional agenda.”
“It highlights the commitment of all SCO countries to create a just multipolar world order based on the central role of the United Nations, international law and the struggle of sovereign States to establish mutually beneficial partnerships,” he said.
Respect for sovereignty and independence
In the Astana Declaration it was reiterated that the basis of sustainable development of international relations are the principles of respect for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
“The principles of reciprocal respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of States, equality, mutual benefit, non-interference in internal affairs, non-use of force or the threat thereof are the basis of sustainable development of the international relations,” he said.
The member countries reaffirmed their commitment to the peaceful resolution of international differences and disputes “through consultations and dialogue,” he noted. Sputnik.

At this summit, Belarus’s official entry as a member state of the SCO was approved and China assumed the rotating Presidency following Kazakhstan, reported Telesur.
The organization is made up of Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
