SCJN lifts strike after approval of reform to the Judicial Branch

MEXICO CITY.- The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) will resume its activities after the strike lifted in protest against the reform of the judiciary.

This week the president’s initiative Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was approved in the Congress of the Union and enough local Congresses to declare its constitutionality.

In a private session, the ministers discussed lifting the work stoppage in solidarity with the workers of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) who oppose judicial reform.

Preliminary versions of the session indicate that the 11 ministers voted in favor of resuming their work. Prior to this, the First Chamber of the SCJN held a normal session.

Will the strike by judiciary workers be lifted?

Yesterday, the workers of the Judicial Branch withdrew from the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic after the approval of the reform.

Although the representatives of the movement announced that they will continue with the mobilizations and will even resort to international and national bodies to try to stop the initiative of AMLO.

In the next few hours, they will decide whether to lift the work stoppage, which will be in effect for a month.
