The Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, decided to appoint the ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Scioli, as his second, in charge of a supersecretariat that concentrates Tourism, Sports and the Environment.
Scioli has a good relationship with President Milei and there are many who warned Francos that it is a risk to have a politician as resilient and voracious as Scioli as a second-in-command. “It’s okay, Daniel is my friend,” the Minister of the Interior cut them off.
Scioli, who was very close to being the candidate for president of the government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner, now assumes himself as a convinced cadre of the libertarian government and publicly celebrates his incorporation into “The Forces of Heaven.”
His ability to politically capitalize on soft areas of management such as Tourism and Sports, in a context of adjustment, was already demonstrated during the government of Eduardo Duhalde where, in the midst of devaluation and asymmetric pesification, he managed to be one of the officials with the best image. to the point that he ended up as Néstor Kirchner’s vice president.
