Schuman Roundabout Traffic Safety Measures and Public Transport Updates in Brussels

Following safety measures, traffic will be significantly affected near the Schuman roundregarding. Vehicles, except those with an exemption, will not be able to cross it, explains Bruxelles Mobilité. For pedestrians, a badge will be required for free passage within the security perimeter. The surrounding area will be reserved for local traffic. As for the Reyers-center tunnel, it will also be closed to traffic.

Public transport

This was to be expected, but several STIB stops will not be served during the European summit. For buses, lines 12, 21, 56, 60 and 79 do not serve Schuman station. However, a connection with the metro at Maelbeek station is in place. Bus lines 27, 59 and 80 are diverted locally around Place Jourdan.

For the Schuman metro station, access to rue Froissart, rue Archimède and the Schuman roundregarding are closed from Wednesday December 13 at 12 p.m. to Saturday December 16. Access n°4 (Résidence Palace) is closed from Wednesday December 13 at 7 a.m. to Saturday December 16. Access to the SNCB station side (Berlaymont side) remains open. For people with reduced mobility, access is via rue de la Loi, near Lex.

In the surrounding area, the Froissart (bus 21, 27, 59, 60) and Parc Léopold (bus 21) stops are not served. To take the bus, you must reach the stops Maelbeek (from Parc Léopold), Froissart, temporary stop square Jean Rey (bus 27) or Parc Léopold (chemin d’Etterbeek, bus 59, 60). Buses 59 and 60 towards Bordet Station and Ambiorix are diverted between Natation/Varia and Maelbeek via avenue du Maelbeek, buses 80 towards Porte de Namur are diverted between Leman and Jourdan via rue Belliard.
