The measure provides for “a ban on the use of cell phones in class, even for educational and didactic purposes, for students from nursery school to lower secondary school, except in cases where the same is provided for in the Individualized Educational Plan or the Personalized Didactic Plan”. In short, no cell phones in class until middle school, even for educational purposes. “According to a survey by Tecnica della Scuola, in which 1,100 readers participated, two thirds of teachers, professionals say they are largely in agreement with the ban: on average, regarding 80% of them agree with the measure adopted by Minister Giuseppe Valditara due to the increasingly strong dependence of the new generations on the so-called cell phone”, reads a note. The survey also brought to light some observations from some professionals, for whom the imposition of a ban from above might conflict with the autonomy of the institutes, in particular with schools that have conducted educational programs based precisely on the active and educational use of cell phones. However, 80 percent of participants approved the measure with flying colors.
