Chen Ziling, director of the Central District Management Center of the Food and Drug Administration, pointed out in a briefing that the inspection will be carried out in two stages in accordance with the actual lunch time during the school term. Chen Ziling said that there were missing items in the preliminary investigation of some workplaces, mainly because the working environment such as ceilings, doors, windows, floors, fans and appliances and equipment were not kept clean or damaged, and effective vector control measures were not implemented. This time, 1,807 finished and semi-finished lunches were sampled to check whether they comply with the microbiological hygiene standards in food or the use of additives. As a result, a pickled melon product from a manufacturer in Kaohsiung did not comply with the regulations, and was fined NT$30,000. In addition, a Taoyuan private elementary and middle school nutritional lunch kitchen was found to store expired seasonings and fined 60,000 yuan.

As for the inspection of lunch boxes for the public, Wei Renting, director of the Southern District Management Center of the Food and Drug Administration, said that this time there were 4 operators storing expired raw materials, including Kaohsiung Miti Food Co., Ltd., Taichung Jiaxiang Lunch Box Food Factory, and Taoyuan City. Jiaxin Box Meal Factory and Guolin Group Catering Co., Ltd. were fined a total of 300,000 yuan.

In addition, the Food Safety Department of Taichung City issued a press release today pointing out that in the first half of the year, it locked down “ingredient suppliers”, “campus lunch preparation sites”, “group meal factories” and other fields, launched an inspection project, and sampled lunch boxes and semi-finished products for campus lunches From January to July this year, a total of 192 sanitary inspections were carried out.
