School, FISH applauds Valditara for the proposal for educational continuity for disabled students –

The work of Minister Giuseppe Valditara convinces the Italian Federation to overcome the handicap. “FISH expresses appreciation for the prospects of educational continuity for students with disabilities, as announced by the Minister of Education. The proposal to allow support teachers to remain in the same position for at least three years, at the request of the family of students with disabilities, represents a significant step towards the implementation of the principle of reasonable accommodation, as introduced by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons. with disabilities”, the words of the Federation in a note.

Which then continues: “This initiative aims to guarantee a continuity of teaching that responds to the specific needs of students with disabilities, allowing them to benefit from a stable educational environment conducive to their growth”. Also noteworthy is the intervention of president Vincenzo Falabella: “The Federation and its entire associative movement welcomes this regulatory change, which finally puts an end to educational discontinuity and partly reflects the requests presented in our bill. Let us now proceed quickly with the presentation and scheduling of our bill which provides for teaching continuity also for permanent teachers as well as the establishment of competitive classes dedicated to support, thus guaranteeing specialized training and an informed professional choice. Currently, the lack of a tenured professorship specific for support and the limitations in current legislation regarding the permanence of permanent teachers on support positions, have created difficulties in creating a stable educational environment for students with disabilities”.
