There are only a few weeks left until the new school year begins and thousands of students from all over Spain are already preparing to return to school. Each autonomous community sets its calendar, so that Spanish students will gradually return to their educational centers. In the case of La Rioja, the 2024-2025 school year will begin on September 1, 2024, and end on June 30, 2025. The main novelty is the Easter holidays, which are once again a full week of holidays, as was the case in the 2022-2023 school year, instead of Easter week, which is usually a holiday in La Rioja.

Public schools and private subsidized centers for Early Childhood and Primary Education, Compulsory Education Centers and specific Centers for Special Education will begin teaching activities on September 9, 2024 and will end on June 23, 2025. Secondary Education Institutes, specific Vocational Training centers and private subsidized centers for Secondary Education will also do so on the same dates.

In the case of the Higher School of Design, teaching activities will begin on September 9, 2024 and end on June 27, 2025. For its part, the teaching activities corresponding to the Elementary and Professional Music Education in the Music Conservatories of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja will begin on October 1, 2024 and end on June 23, 2025. The Official Language Schools will open their doors on October 1, 2024 and will close on June 23, 2025. On the other hand, the Adult Education Centers will begin classes on September 16, 2024 and will end on June 23, 2025.

The Christmas holidays will be from December 23 to January 6, both inclusive; while the Easter holidays will take place between April 14 and 21, both inclusive.

The rest of the school holidays included in the school calendar for the next academic year 2024/2025 are Friday, November 1 (All Saints’ Day), Friday, December 6 (Constitution Day), Thursday, May 1 (Labor Day), which is added to Friday, May 2, and Monday, June 9 (La Rioja Day). To these days we must add another seven local holidays: two established as holidays in the work calendar of each municipality and another five decided by each Municipal School Council.

In addition, non-school days must also be added, when classes are not held in schools and students and teachers are not required to attend. In this autonomous community, these are March 3, 2025, May 2, 2025, and the Day of the Educational Community, which is February 28, 2025.
