Elly Schlein’s new political season begins from Siena.
It is not a randomly chosen place. The Tuscan city is the baptismal font of the political-cultural vision of the secretary of the Democratic Party. It is the city of her mother’s family and it is a place very dear to her where as a child she began to breathe public commitment. So the first appointment, after the reserved summer holidays spent perhaps in Switzerland, is today at the Festa dell’Unità in Abbadia San Salvatore.

And he will continue along this path, also recalling the appointment with the referendum to cancel the law on differentiated autonomy and focusing on the law he signed to reach healthcare financing equal to 7.5% of GDP in 2028.

However, the secretary aims to close it by tomorrow despite the vetoes that still come from the 5 Star Movement, which is against an alliance with Italia Viva because it supports the center-right mayor of Genoa, with two councilors and an assessor. A contradiction – according to the grillini – that cannot be circumvented and that must keep out Matteo Renzi, who instead asks to build a common house of the center-left.
Andrea Orlando, the Pd deputy candidate in pectore, waits impatiently. The calendar is marked in red on Saturday 31, so that the feast of Sant’Olcese will be the first public outing of the former minister as candidate president of Liguria.
