The Consulate General of Spain in Havana continues to offer updates on appointments for some of the main procedures.
This November 30, for example, the consular headquarters announced the availability of new places for first passport appointments. And this December 1st, it notified regarding the opening of appointments in 2024 for other Civil Registry procedures. In this article, we tell you regarding the topic.
This has been the message from the Consulate General of Spain in Cuba:
The agenda for 2024 includes appointments for the following procedures:
Nationality for minors (Direct registration and Option) Nationality for adults (Law 36) Conservation of nationality Change of qualification Signing of consents Birth certificates
The Facebook page “Consejo Consulado de España en Cuba” has confirmed the good news that they have already begun scheduling appointments since January for these procedures.
Below are some details regarding two of the procedures that you can now schedule:
1- Spanish Nationality by Option
The possibility of opting for Spanish nationality is very common among minors, points out the official website of the Consulate. This option expires when the interested party reaches the age of 20, unless, by application of his personal law (that of his nationality), he does not acquire the age of majority at 18 years of age. In this case, the period will be two years from when he becomes of age.
Children of a father or mother who were Spanish by origin and born in Spain can opt at any time. In Cuba, as in Spain, the age of majority is reached at 18 years of age.
Procedure to request an appointment: to request an appointment, you must do so through from the link provided. This will open a new tab where you can book your appointment. This tab is an external service to the consulate’s website and may take time to load, they warn.
Please note that to correctly enter a Spanish DNI number in the “Identity Card” section, you must write three zeros (000) followed by your DNI number, without letters, so that they add up to eleven digits. Here, an example: if your complete DNI is 01234567-H, in the “Identity card” section you must enter 00001234567.
2- Birth Certificate
The birth certificate can be requested by mail, by email or in person at the Consular Office. Important! It is NOT necessary to request birth certificates for procedures at the Consulate General of people registered in their Civil Registry.
You can select one of two types of certificates and review the required documentation:
– Spanish birth certificate
– Spanish birth certificate to obtain the DNI
