Sexual health should not be a question of income
Vienna (OTS) – “I am very pleased that today’s Health Committee decided to implement free HIV prophylaxis PrEP. This is a great success in the long-term fight once morest HIV and AIDS,” says the Green Party’s health spokesman, Ralph Schallmeiner. The federal government responded to the joint initiative by the Greens, ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS to finally make PReP free on last World AIDS Day with the appropriate funding. The framework legislation is being launched today and is expected to be passed in the National Council at the end of February.
“HIV prophylaxis is, along with safe sex, the most important preventive measure to contain HIV. “We see internationally that low-threshold access breaks chains of infection and helps ensure that fewer people are affected by an infection in the long term,” says Schallmeiner happily.
