The pilot Alejandro Martínez, brother of Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, world champion goalkeeper with the Argentine national team in Qatar 2022, suffered a fire in his car when he was competing in a Bora Cup race at the Roberto Mouras racetrack in La Plata.
Martínez, who this year made his entry into competitive motorsport, led the test with his Volkswagen number 23, the number with which his brother was crowned in the World Cup.
Due to a mechanical failure, the man from Mar del Plata left the track and following a few meters the flames engulfed the entire front part of the car, from which he managed to get out without physical consequences.
The Bora Cup is a single-brand category of touring cars with improved standard preparation (1.8 turbo engines).
