So why is it so important, a single truck?
Because the savings made with this single delivery are rather spectacular!
This is an extra-long electric truck model from Scania (owned by the Traton group), weighing 66 tonnes in total, saving more than 150 tonnes of CO2 per year, quite simply!
It will be used to transport lime from the company Verdalskalk AS to Verdal, in northern Norway, between the quarry and the port, over a distance of around 10 kilometres.
In total, it should transport more than 120,000 tonnes of lime per year, saving its owner 60,000 liters of diesel per year, in addition to 150 tonnes of CO2, this is enough to reassure the sector regarding the capacities of road transport at respond to the climate emergency.
The model is a Scania P 45B6X2/4NB, carrying in its bowels nine battery packs for a total power of 300 kW/h. the total engine power is 612 hp for a total weight of 10 tons.
For the time being, if the savings are significant, both in terms of fuel and protection of the planet, we do not know the budget to be planned for recharging the truck…
What is certain is that the transport sector is already ready for the transition, which we did not think possible in such a short time, just a few months ago.
Manufacturers will always amaze us for their ability to react and find new solutions, to believe that they have been sleeping for a long time in a closet while waiting to be released on D-Day.
