The mother of the Vega Dazas, Meili Daza Curvelo, affirmed that photos of the necropsies of her relatives in the Forensic Medicine facilities were circulating on social networks: “They are ending my life,” she said through tears, then added, “following they They kill my family, they have the audacity to post those horrible, horrible photos.”

Then he added, according to an audio leaked to the media and picked up by Impacto News: “It seems to me a lack of respect, a lack of everything with my family. How is it possible that you have allowed photos of my husband and my children to appear on social networks where they are doing the necropsy? I will go to the last consequences. I am leaving for the Prosecutor’s Office and the Ombudsman’s Office to file the complaint.

Later, addressing specifically the director of the Atlantic Section of the National Institute of Legal Medicine in the face of discomfort over the leaking of the images, he said: “In Barranquilla there is a lot of corruption. Your position as director is getting too big for you. Take control, ma’am. As a director, you must have measures with the correct people who carry out their functions. They are ending my life. After they kill my family, they have the audacity to post those horrible, horrible photos.”

Finally, he maintained “but this is not going to stay that way. And I’m not threatening her to hurt her, but rather to assert my rights.”

Faced with this overwhelming claim, the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences issued an explanatory statement on Friday, July 7, in relation to the images Meili Daza speaks of and in which the corpses of Rafael Julio Vega Cuello and of his sons Ray Jesús and Ronald Iván Vega Daza.

The entity clarifies that the images circulating on social networks do not correspond to any forensic practice carried out in the facilities of the headquarters in Barranquilla.

“The General Directorate, the North General Directorate and the Atlantic Sectional Directorate inform public opinion that contact was made with the Attorney General’s Office to arrange, in the company of the investigative entity, a meeting with the families of the victims,” ​​he explains. the notice.

Then he adds: “After the explanation of the institutional procedures of the headquarters, in order to carry out the respective verification by the participants. Once the visit was over, the relatives expressed their apologies and stated that they intended to issue a clarifying statement.

Lastly, they recommended that the media and the public in general refrain from sharing information that affects the relatives of the victims and damages the image of the National Institute of Legal Medicine.

A total of 33 shots took the lives of the Vega Dazas, on June 29, 2023, when the clock marked 4:35 pm; in a crime that caused stupor. Seventeen of them targeted Ray; nine to Ronald and seven to Rafael.

According to the criminals who ended the lives of the Vega Dazas, the victims dedicated themselves to “stealing property, money, drugs”, in addition to activities related to extortion from merchants in the capital of Atlántico and surrounding municipalities. According to the thugs, the community would have come together to put an end to this clan and all its allies.
