A mother took her daughter to a pediatric appointment at a hospital in Canelinha (SC) and had to call the Military Police because of the behavior of the doctor who attended to the child.
The girl claimed to feel abdominal pain and the doctor asked her to take off her clothes. The health worker also said a prayer to “heal the sins of the mother”.
The mother found the situation strange and called the hospital’s management, as well as the Military Police, who registered a police report at the scene.
The PM understood that there was no sexual harassment or rape of a vulnerable person. According to the police, the doctor did not touch the child’s private parts.
Resignation
According to the city hall, the man was fired. In a statement to the police, the doctor stated that the prayer was made to facilitate care. He also said that he asked the child to be without clothes to examine the abdominal pain.
“Due to the medical actions that took place on April 23, 2023, as well as the media proportion taken, Director Vanderléia Rosa, as well as the owner of the company Julio Cesar de Oliveira, inform that they are investigating the entire situation that occurred in order to investigate the facts, so they have already proceeded with the dismissal of the doctor in charge”, says a note from the city hall.
