Why do we put chlorine in the water?
Virologist Océane Sorel regularly shares her advice on food and health. For example, she gave us a tip to limit the proliferation of bacteria in the fridge or shared the list of foods not to be given to children under 10 years old. In these very hot weather, the expert tackled this time tap water. Indeed, if many consume it, it doesn’t always taste good because of the chlorine it contains. However, this product is essential since, as she explains in her Instagram post, “Chlorine is added in very small amounts to tap water to kill any bacteria that may be present”. The problem ? This impacts the taste and smell of the water.
How to get rid of the taste of chlorine?
Fortunately, there is a very easy solution to get your water back to tasting normal : “The trick to eliminating this taste and smell is to let the carafe of water air out in the fridge for a few hours or 30 minutes at room temperature”. The expert also recalls that “tap water can be kept in the fridge for 24 to 48 hours”. Nothing very difficult therefore, you will now know what to do in case of high heat with your tap water.
