Savoring Skills: SNPP Unveils New Culinary Courses Throughout Central Regions

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Service for Professional Promotion (SNPP) promotes, in its different offices in the Central department, courses in the area of gastronomy within the framework of the Zero Hunger Program, which seeks to improve food security and nutrition for school-age children.

On this occasion, through the SNPP Training and Capacity Building Directorate of Guarambaré, the opening of the courses for cooks and kitchen assistants was given, which have a workload of 20 hours, of which one of the classes is developed at the same headquarters and the other at the 14 de Julio School.

On the other hand, through the SNPP Directorate of Training and Capacity Building of Nueva Italia, basic cooking courses were started, distributed in seven schools in the city of Nueva Italia and 7 (seven) Schools in the city of Villeta.

These trainings are carried out in conjunction with the company Grupo Altair SA, whose employees are trained in this project, and are also responsible for providing the supplies for the development of the classes.

The new 20-hour training courses will focus on strengthening local capacities to produce quality food, thereby promoting food security and reducing waste. In addition, this initiative is expected to contribute to aligning development policies at the national level.

With this project, the Government seeks to improve the nutritional quality of food served in schools, strengthen local production and ensure that all children have access to adequate nutrition.

The Zero Hunger Program in schools provides food coverage for 1.3 million students nationwide. According to previous analyses, the resources allocated to school meals are insufficient, as are the controls to ensure that food arrives in the quantity and quality that it should have. Therefore, the Government seeks to substantially improve these food security and nutrition indices in children, in addition to increasing class attendance, achieving 100% coverage of school lunches up to ninth grade.
