MASOUMEH Mehravar, a midwife at an emergency call center, helps a mother trapped in the snow to give birth to her baby in late February 2024. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei praised emergency medical personnel who saved a mother and her baby trapped in the snow in northern Iran.
During the call, Mohammad Golpaygani, head of Ayatollah Khamenei’s office, conveyed the Leader’s message of appreciation to the hardworking emergency medical workers. Masoumeh Mehravar, a midwife at the emergency call center, 115, helped a mother trapped in snow in Jajan Village in Mazandaran Province to give birth safely.
On February 28, Mehravar gave important medical instructions to the mother’s husband that enabled him to help his wife and save her and her baby’s lives. Heavy snowfall prevented ambulances from reaching them.
The dispatcher’s compassionate voice as she guided her husband through important instructions went viral on social media and captured the hearts of netizens. When the husband managed to make the baby cry by following his guidance, the dispatcher’s emotions overwhelmed him. He cried and celebrated the moment with his colleagues.
According to the head of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Babol, the lives of the baby and its mother were in danger because the baby did not cry at birth and the placenta had not yet been delivered. The mother and baby were later shifted to hospital after paramedics managed to reach them with great difficulty with the help of vehicles from the Road Maintenance and Transport Organization and the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
