Sgt. MacFarlane: The session is designed to provide an intimate and personalized experience for anyone considering a career in policing. I’ll be leading a presentation that covers the entire recruitment process, from the initial submission to the training academy. We’ll discuss the requirements, both physical and mental, challenges that come with the job, and the unbelievable benefits of becoming a police officer or special constable with our service.

Archyde: Speaking of requirements, your website mentions a fitness test. Can you elaborate more on that? How can interested candidates prepare for it?

Sgt. MacFarlane: Certainly. The fitness test is an essential part of our recruitment process. It’s designed to ensure candidates have the physical capabilities necessary to perform the duty of a police officer safely and effectively. The test includes a 2.4km run, a 3-minute step test, a push-up challenge, and a grip strength measurement. We want to encourage all candidates to prepare adequately. Regular cardio exercises, strength training, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can greatly improve your chances of passing the test. We also offer a preparatory guide on our website to help candidates train properly.
