US National Security Spokesman John Kirby said today, Monday, that the United States welcomes Saudi Arabia’s announcement to provide $400 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
He added that Saudi support for the Ukrainian people is an important step, noting that it has been a strategic partner of America for 8 decades.
In parallel, the White House made it clear to Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath that the ongoing violence pushes us to work for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
On the Yemeni file, the White House praised Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting the armistice there, pointing out that the Kingdom is taking great steps to support the stability of the region.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi Foreign Minister visited Kiev yesterday, and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and a number of officials, as the Kingdom announced the provision of two aid packages to Ukraine amounting to 410 million dollars.
During the meeting with Kuleba, developments in the crisis in Ukraine were discussed, with an emphasis on the Kingdom’s support for everything that contributes to de-escalation, protection of civilians, serious pursuit of negotiated political solutions, and support for all international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis politically.
