Saudi refugee Rahaf al-Qunun reveals the details of her “escape from the kingdom” in the memoirs of “Rebel”

It is reported that Al-Qunun began to make global media headlines in January 2019, when she said that she feared for her life if she was forced to return to her homeland, when she was in a hotel room at Bangkok Airport amid threats of deportation. Al-Qunun resisted deportation from Thailand and returned to Kuwait, where she resides. Her family, who fled from her due to “violence”, as she put it, by staying in her hotel room in the Thai capital, Bangkok, until the arrival of the High Commission, which placed her under her protection.

Then the head of the Thai Immigration Office, Lieutenant General Surachit Hakpal, announced that Rahaf Al-Qunun would leave for Canada on a Korean Air flight in Bangkok.

After that, Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland welcomed what she described as the “new and brave Canadian”, Saudi Arabia Rahaf al-Qunun, and indicated that the latter wanted to thank Canada and Canadians for receiving her.
