Saudi: The Ministry has fixed the minimum period of building lease agreement in Saudi as three months. This is the minimum time limit for registering the agreement between the building owner and the tenant in the Eejar system. Ejar agreement is mandatory for foreigners residing in the country to renew Iqama.
The Ministry of Rural Housing and Municipal Affairs of Saudi Arabia clarified the duration of the contract. The Eajar Authority has clarified that the tenancy agreement entered into between the building owner and the tenant should be registered in the Eajar system for a period of at least three months.
The owner and the tenant should first come to an agreement regarding the rent of the building and the installments for paying it. After that, the contract should be entered into with the mutual consent of both.
Both of them have to give permission through Abshir for this. The same mechanism should be utilized for termination of contract. The ministry also clarified that Ejaar agreements for residential purposes are not taxable.
