Saudi Arabia‘s ambassador to the UK, Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, called on the United States government to stop sending weapons to Israel if additional humanitarian aid does not reach the Gaza Strip. This is the Politico newspaper report on Thursday (17/10).
The Saudi diplomat urged Washington to follow through on its threat and halt arms shipments to Israel if more humanitarian aid is not allowed into the Palestinian territories within the next 30 days.
Saudi Arabia hopes that the US will keep its promise regarding the ultimatum given to Israel. He noted that no country in the world can influence Israel’s decisions more than the US.
The Saudi Arabian ambassador also said Israel’s actions did not bring the region towards peace and stability in the Middle East, but instead put Israel in greater danger than in previous decades.
On Tuesday, Israeli media reported that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin sent a letter to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dearmer threatening them with an arms embargo against Israel, if the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip was not resolved within a month.
Then on Wednesday, the Axios news portal, citing several sources, reported that Israeli officials promised to immediately improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. (Ant/Z-2)
