Riyadh: The ministry has banned changes in the shape and color of the balconies of buildings in Saudi Arabia. No construction work or repair work should be carried out on buildings without permission from the concerned government departments. The Ministry of Municipal Rural Development and Housing has warned that violators will be fined heavily.
A new order issued by the Ministry of Municipal Rural Development and Housing states that buildings should only be constructed and repaired in accordance with the Saudi Building Code in form and style. It is also prohibited to make structures that damage the general beauty of the buildings.
The construction works should be carried out according to the plans of the authorized engineers and permission from the concerned government departments should be obtained. Also, the approval of the municipalities is required to carry out repairs. Balconies and ancillary structures of buildings shall not be altered in shape or colour. Do not give special colors only to the balconies in contrast to the color of the facade.
Also, the new order issued by the ministry explains that the form or decorations that do not suit the construction style of the building should not be used on the balconies. The ministry has also warned that heavy fines will be imposed if colors are given or constructions are made against the rules.
