Saudi bans wearing shorts in mosques and government offices

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia has banned the wearing of shorts in mosques and government offices. Violation of the law carries a fine of 250 riyals to 500 riyals. There were 19 violations in the list of public etiquette violations. With the new decision, the list of public etiquette violations now stands at 20.

However, wearing shorts in public places outside mosques and government offices is not a violation of the law, which carries a fine. The Code of Civil Procedure came into force in November 2019 with the approval of Interior Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud.

Violations of the law include loud music in residential areas, failure to remove pet waste, wearing indecent clothing, and indecent exposure. They can be fined up to 6000 riyals.
