Saudi Arabia.. Video about slums and rehabilitation projects tops Twitter

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated a video clip in which old neighborhoods “slums” were filmed from a car traveling on a bridge in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which sparked an interaction.

The video clip was published on January 20, in conjunction with the Jeddah Municipality’s notification of the removal of a number of random buildings.

CNN Arabic contacted the authorities in Jeddah for comment, without a response at the time of writing this report.

And the Jeddah Municipality had said, according to what was reported by the official Saudi Press Agency at the time: “The Jeddah Municipality has removed 14 unlicensed random buildings that were set up in violation without legal documents on government lands with an area of ​​more than 27 thousand square meters in ‘Al-Harazat’ and ‘Muraikh’… The secretariat’s efforts in monitoring lands and encroachments.”
