Saudi Arabia to nationalize 30 more jobs

He said the plan was to implement Saudiisation in 30 areas, including project managers, sales and finance professions. This includes jobs such as accountants, lawyers, teachers, salesmen, doctors and engineers. The minister also said that 10 billion riyals was spent last year to create jobs for the natives in the private sector. In one year, the number of Saudis entering the labor market for the first time was 400,000. The ministry also plans to create more than a million additional jobs. The aim is to increase the economic participation of citizens in the country’s labor market from 40 per cent to 50 per cent. He added that by 2030 it will be 60 per cent. Before Vision 2030, the share of women in the labor market was 21%. Ahmed al-Rajhi said that today it has crossed 32 percent. He also shared the views of the expatriates that the target was achieved before the stipulated date.

The minister said studies were underway to revise the labor law to make the market more attractive to investors and employees and appropriate decisions would be taken on issues including time shifts and weekends. Complaints regarding wages have now dropped. A special scheme has been implemented to ensure that the workers receive their wages at the end of each month. The number of companies that strictly adhered to this reached 80 percent, and the number of employer-employee friendly compromises reached 65 percent. At present all the services of the Ministry are made available digitally. The number of people doing long-term employment in the labor market is 58,000. He added that the process of digitization of seven million employment contracts has been completed to protect workers’ rights. He said the country was on the cusp of making Saudi Arabia one of the top 20 labor markets in the world by 2030. He added that Saudi Arabia has become an active member of the International Labor Organization. Ahmed al-Rajhi said the deadline for correcting the status of businesses was February 16 and would not be extended.
