Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated previous statements of the late Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, in a speech to a meeting of the United Nations Council.
Al-Faisal said in the circulating video: “We, the Arabs, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia do not renege on a promise … just as we do not accept threats.”
The circulation of the video clip comes amid statements by former and current US officials in which they criticized the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia following the decision of the group of oil exporting countries and its partners, or what is known as “OPEC +”, to reduce production by two million barrels per day, in a move described by the White House as “aligning” with Russia in its war once morest Ukraine.
It is reported that Chuck Schumer, the majority leader of the US House of Representatives, waved the “NOPEC” bill in response to the OPEC + move, saying in a tweet: “What Saudi Arabia did to help Putin continue waging his vile and vicious war once morest Ukraine will be remembered for a long time by Americans … We are looking at all legislative tools to better deal with this deeply appalling measure, including the NOPEC bill.”
