Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid Bin Salman announced on Tuesday the signing of two contracts for the purchase of Turkish drones, in addition to an executive plan for defense cooperation between the two countries.
This is what emerges from a tweet published by the Minister of Defense via his Twitter account, the day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the Kingdom, during which he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as part of a Gulf tour that also includes Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
“With the support of the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, I had the pleasure of signing the Defense Cooperation Executive Plan today with Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler,” he wrote. .
He added that this plan “is the culmination of the course of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defense and military”.
And the official to continue, “two acquisition contracts have also been signed between the Ministry of Defense and the Turkish aircraft manufacturer Baykar, manufacturer of the Bayraktar drones”.
The signing came after talks that brought together delegations from the two countries, led by President Erdogan and Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the city of Jeddah, west of the Kingdom.
At the end of the talks, several agreements were signed in the fields of investments, defense industries, energy, defense and communications.
Among these agreements is an executive plan for cooperation between the Turkish Ministry of Defense and its Saudi counterpart, signed by Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler and his Saudi counterpart Khalid bin Salman.
The cooperation agreement between the Saudi Ministry of Defense and the Turkish company Baykar was signed by the director general of the Turkish company, Haluk Bayraktar, and Khalid bin Hussein Al-Bayari, Saudi deputy minister of defense.
