Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated videos from an interview with a Saudi citizen injured in the Rize accident in Turkey, and what he said regarding the “ill-treatment”, as he put it.
The state-run Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel published interviews with the injured in the accident on its official Twitter page, with a comment in which it said: “Muhammad Al-Abassi, one of the victims of the “Turkish Reza” accident: We faced bad treatment in Turkey by not taking into account our medical condition, and if we stayed longer, we would be among the dead.”
And the official Saudi Press Agency had stated in a report: “Under the gracious directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them – and with continuous follow-up by His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Republic of Turkey, today, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, postponed the infected citizens. In the traffic accident in the city of Rize, northern Turkey, two medical evacuation planes were carried out, in order to complete their treatment in the homeland.
And she continued: “The embassy valued the attention and care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them – for their citizens everywhere, asking God – the Almighty – to provide health and wellness to the injured.”
CNN in Arabic contacted the Turkish government to comment on these statements, without a response at the time of writing this report.
