Saudi Arabia is talking about development, not help: Petroleum Minister

Federal Minister for Petroleum Mossadegh Malik said on Saturday that Saudi Arabia Pakistan has a relationship of friendship with Pakistan, but we have not been able to change it into a relationship of development and stability till now, so now ‘it will be a matter of development, not aid.’

In a press briefing today, the Federal Minister highlighted the recent issues discussed with Saudi Arabia and said that the Prime Minister has appointed him as the focal person in matters with Saudi Arabia.

He said, “In this regard, you saw that first their (Saudi Arabia) ministers came here, our conversation continued for two days, after that a few days our delegation went there and talked to almost their entire cabinet.” . Not once but twice a day.

‘Now we have come and not even wiped off the sweat, so their delegation is coming tomorrow.’

He said that Pakistan is now changing its ideology because we do not want help but development. A big shift we are bringing is that every self-reliant nation that wants to move forward, we are also trying to talk like that, what we are talking about is progress, development, not help.’

The Federal Minister said that in the discussion on the arrival of the Saudi delegation, the Prime Minister put proposals in front of them in which there will be a share in the profits and they will be traveling together in the journey of Pakistan’s development.

He said that along with internal changes in the country, external support is also needed because the biggest problem is employment while the second biggest problem is imbalance in exports.

Mossadegh Malik said that the Prime Minister thinks that the private and public sector will soon bring in an investment of 10 billion dollars.

The Pakistani delegation held meetings in Saudi Arabia with the officials of major companies like Aramco, including the Saudi ministers of industries and energy.

The federal minister said: ‘We highlighted two types of investment opportunities, one of which is government-to-government investment, but the Prime Minister wants our private sector to be ahead of us in such a journey. ‘

According to him, the Pakistani ruler discussed many issues in the energy sector. Talked about the new refinery in which there will be investment in dollars and import of products will get only dollars.

According to him, one should do such a business that only earns dollars. We had many projects in the power sector including solar power generation. Also talked about transmission lines and investment in them.

Pakistan is an agricultural country. We also talked about the development of the farmers of Pakistan. 30 to 35 percent of Pakistan’s vegetables spoil while being brought from the farm to the market. Our farmers can store these vegetables in cities and use them for export.

“Saudi investors have been invited to come and sit with Pakistani companies. Take advantage of the talent of our talented Pakistani youth.’

The Federal Minister said that Pakistan has the world’s largest copper mines which are being discovered in Rekodak and Sendak. People are turning to Pakistan because copper is a useful element in the electrical sector. A revolution is coming in this sector. Pakistan’s mines should be put to better use.

Shahbaz Sharif went on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on April 28, where apart from participating in the World Economic Forum, he also met with Saudi ministers.

In a statement at the end of his visit, he said that ‘Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman has issued special instructions to the Saudi ministers regarding Pakistan, for which he is grateful.

With the economic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, a new era has begun in the relations between the two brotherly countries. During two months, there has been an exchange of record delegations at the highest level between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud visited Pakistan in April. In this regard Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said It was said that Pakistan presented a ‘menu’ of investment projects worth 30 billion dollars to the Saudi Arabian government during the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister.
