Saudi Arabia inaugurates the largest virtual medical center in the world

Today (Monday) in Riyadh, the Saudi Ministry of Health inaugurated the “Virtual Health Hospital”, which accommodates regarding 500,000 beneficiaries per year, and offers 34 sub-specialties and sub-specialties, as well as in cooperation with a network of more than 130 hospitals and a number of rare specialties, which makes it the largest of its kind worldwide.

The ministry explained that this project will make it easier for the citizen to obtain consultations, and to come up with solutions that would save him from the hardship of moving to the hospital, by communicating with doctors from a distance, in addition to transferring experiences between doctors and specialists, and providing the best consultants in all cities and villages through telemedicine.

The virtual hospital aims to create an added value in the level and quality of health services provided, improve the health, quality and well-being of individuals and society, focus on achieving better health outcomes, and work on easy access to health care.

The hospital is linked to the priority initiatives of the health sector transformation program, which are facilitating access to health services, enhancing prevention once morest health risks, and improving the quality and efficiency of services. It also includes the virtual service for patients with electroencephalography, stroke, critical care, the virtual radiology service, and virtual clinics.

It seeks to use the latest treatment technologies, expand the employment and investment of medical robots, to save time and effort to ease the hardship of travel and transportation, and for critical cases that require specialized, accurate and rapid consultations, while facilitating the provision of health services at home. It also contributes to transferring expertise to newly graduated doctors to raise efficiency and enhance medical services and make them accessible throughout the Kingdom. It also receives requests and inquiries from all hospitals through various specialized clinics, which achieves the strategic goals of the Ministry of Health in speed and ease of access to service.

The ministry confirmed that the launch of the virtual hospital comes in line with achieving the goals of “Saudi Vision 2030”, as it is one of the priority initiatives in the health sector transformation program, promoting virtual medicine applications in health authorities, providing the best virtual health services in the service of citizens, and harnessing the latest care technologies. Virtual health in a qualitative manner to facilitate access to specialized services in a timely manner and in the widest possible spread.
