Saudi Arabia warned of the situation between the Israelis and the Palestinians slipping into “more dangerous escalation” in the wake of the escalation of violence in the Palestinian territories and Israel.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that “the kingdom condemns all targeting of civilians,” while emphasizing “the need to stop the escalation, revive the peace process and end the occupation.”
Violence has recently escalated in the Palestinian territories and Israel, following a series of bloody incidents, the latest of which was the shooting, on Saturday, in Jerusalem, which resulted in injuries.
This came following the oldest Palestinian gunman, on Friday, opened fire on a Jewish synagogue in Jerusalem, killing seven people and wounding several others, in an operation that drew widespread international condemnation.
On Thursday, an Israeli military operation in the West Bank killed 10 Palestinians, in an escalation, as a result of which the Palestinian Authority decided to stop security coordination with Israel, which for its part said that its forces exchanged fire with “wanted terrorists.”
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, nine of the ten dead were killed during the Israeli military operation in the Jenin refugee camp, while the tenth was killed in the town of Al-Ram near Jerusalem, by Israeli bullets, during clashes during protests once morest the military operation in Jenin.
