Activists highlighted what Al-Khatib said in the circulating video clip and the harsh criticism he directed at Al-Issa, compared to what the Secretary-General of the Association of Muslim Scholars said about the Nimra Mosque.

Al-Issa had been attacked on some social media platforms and by some clerics because of his assignment to deliver the Arafa sermon, while many Saudi tweeters, media professionals and clerics defended him, describing him as a symbol of “moderation” and “moderation”.
In his Friday sermon, Al-Issa warned against engaging in polemics, and called for not arguing with the ignorant, because that would “elevate their remembrance,” days after he was attacked and criticized for his appointment as a preacher on the Day of Arafa because of his prayers at the site of the Holocaust and his meeting with a number of clerics from other religions.

Al-Issa said in the sermon of Arafa: “Good manners in “General Description” is a value common to all people, appreciated by the Muslim and others, as it is a rational behavior in speech and action. ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِي بَيۡنَكَ وَبَيۡنَهُۥ عَدَٰوَةٞ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٞ )، وفي مواجهة الجهل والسفه يقول سبحانه: (خُذِ ٱلۡعَفۡوَ وَأۡمُرۡ بِٱلۡعُرۡفِ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ)، كما قال سبحانه: (فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُوقِنُونَ) والمعنى: Beware that they take you to a polemic and its consequences.”

وأضاف خطيب عرفة قائلا: “والمسلم “براسخ قيمه” لا يلتفت لجاهل ولا لمغرض ولا لعائق، مستصحباً قول الله تعالى: ( وَإِذَا سَمِعُواْ ٱللَّغۡوَ أَعۡرَضُواْ عَنۡهُ وَقَالُواْ لَنَآ أَعۡمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَا نَبۡتَغِي ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ). كما يعلم المسلم أن منازلة أولئك تسهم في Their mention, and the success of their project, which is what they are happy with, and indeed many of them rely on it, but the dangers of fraud are exposed, just as obvious abuse is addressed, and all of this is driven by the wisdom of Islam,” he said.
