Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Islamic preacher, Saleh Al-Maghamsi, the former imam and preacher of the Quba Mosque, sparked a wide interaction among activists on social media following a statement criticizing “relying only on the origins of the four schools of thought.”
This came in an interview with Al-Maghamsi on Radio Eight, Sunday, where he said: “Relying only on the foundations of the four schools of thought, may God have mercy on them all, is not right, meaning that stopping the spirit of diligence in the nation harms it..”
He continued, “We know that Malik, the Shafi’is, Ahmad and Abu Hanifa are distinguished, men, scholars and rabbinic people, and we ask God to gather us with them, but that does not mean that God made the truth confined to them.”
And he added: “I know that no one theoretically says this, but the theoretical issue is not reliable.” In response to a question that “we were worthy to come out with a new doctrine,” Al-Maghamsi replied, “Excuse me from answering.”
