Saudi Arabia.. A court confirms the lineage of a girl to her father, after 20 years of denying it

A Saudi court established, by a final ruling, the lineage of a twenty-year-old Saudi girl according to the new personal status system, and obligated her father to complete the issuance of her birth certificate and include her in the civil registry, according to the newspaper “.Okazlocal.

Informed sources reported that the Personal Status Court in the west of the Kingdom decided on the case within a few weeks.

A Saudi woman had filed a lawsuit stating that she had given birth to two sons and a daughter from her ex-husband, and that he recognized his two sons, the eldest and the youngest, while he refused to recognize his middle daughter and did not extract her identity papers for her.

The court opened the sessions remotely and informed the father of their dates, but he remained absent from attendance, so the court issued an order to bring him by force.

In a subsequent session, the court asked the mother regarding the reason for the lawsuit being filed by her and not by the aggrieved daughter, as she is an adult. The woman replied that her daughter does not want to file a lawsuit once morest her father as a matter of politeness and the absence of disputes.

The mother indicated that her daughter also “might not file a case because she did not have a civil record,” so the court decided to proceed with the case and requested evidence from the mother of the validity of her allegations.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, presented the marriage contract, the divorce deed, and witnesses to the intransigence and refusal of her ex-husband to acknowledge his daughter.

The mother also submitted a copy of the hospital birth notification certificate at the time of her daughter’s birth 20 years ago, and proof of receipt from her father at the time.

The court examined the birth certificates of the older and younger brothers, the date of the mother’s divorce, the family registry card that proves the addition of the mother as a wife at the time, in addition to her divorce deed, which was three years following the birth of the girl.

The court confirmed that, following studying, contemplating, and checking the documents and their conformity with the dates, the lineage is proven with the “least possibility.”

The court’s decision concluded that the paternity of the twenty-year-old girl was proven to her father, and a deed was issued to that effect following the ruling was finalized at a later time.

Sources said that the girl is preparing to submit a request to the competent authorities to implement the ruling she obtained.
