Saudi achieves 120% self-sufficiency in dairy products

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has achieved 120% self-sufficiency in dairy products in half a century. As a result of balanced development plans and policies, Saudi Arabia has become one of the top dairy exporting countries in the world, especially in the agricultural and livestock sectors.

According to the current situation data revealed by the National Committee of Dairy Producers of the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), there has been a 15% increase in the consumption of milk during Ramadan.

Milk production in Saudi Arabia reaches more than 7 million liters per day in more than 18 million bottles per day. The number of trucks transporting and distributing dairy products daily has reached more than 10,000. Meanwhile, the number of retail stores where dairy products are available daily is 38,000. In terms of workers, statistics show that the number of Saudi workers in dairy companies has reached more than 10,500. The dairy sector has contributed more than seven billion riyals to the national economy.

Dairy companies in Saudi Arabia operate on an integrated production chain model, from raw materials to the final product. This model is implemented in only a few countries in the world. The working process of these companies involves bringing in the best milk producing cows. This ensures high production and quality.
