Observations within the solar system are just part of Webb’s science portfolio, along with science topics such as studying the formation of the first galaxies following the Big Bang and finding planets around other stars that might contain the ingredients for life. Webb’s science teams have previously published stunning views of other ringed planets in the solar system – Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus – as well as their first observations of Mars.
