SATRIA Duta Cahaya emerged as the winner of the rapid chess category at the 2024 Japfa Chess Festival held at the Senayan Multipurpose Building, Jakarta, Thursday (22/8). The chess player from DKI Jakarta, the FM title holder, finished at the top of the standings with full points.

In the seven-round competition, Satria Duta won seven points in first place. In the final round he won 1-0 over West Java chess player, M Ariel.

“I’m happy to finish with full points and first place. It was quite tight because until the sixth round there were three people with full points,” said Satria Duta.

“If I don’t win, my position could be thrown away. I just play calmly and attack well,” added the 16-year-old chess player.

For Satria Duta, the victory is a warm-up for the 2024 Chess Olympiad which will be held in Budapest, Hungary, next September.

“I will play in the Olympics, Budapest. I hope I can do my best,” he said.
