During the event Jump Party 2023 it was officially announced that the novels written by Jun Esaka and supervised by Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto: Sasuke Retsudenwill have an anime adaptation that will be included as part of the anime Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. This story will begin with the episode scheduled for January 8, 2023 in Japan.
These novels are part of the literary franchise Naruto Retsuden Seriesand are also inspiring a manga adaptation by the hand of Shingo Kimurawhich has been published since October 2022. The synopsis writes:
- Sasuke Uchiha goes to an astronomical observatory, far from the Country of Fire. There he meets Sakura, and together they plunge into an undercover investigation for traces of the Sage of Six Paths. They discover a plan that goes beyond life and death, and a battle that will test this husband and wife team until death do them part.
A special video was also revealed during the event announcing that the franchise will conduct a massive global popularity poll on the franchise’s 488 characters. According to the announcement, users will be able to vote once a day with a deadline of January 31, 2023, while the results will be announced in mid-April 2023. In addition, the character who wins the massive poll, titled #NARUTOP99, will get a short manga with an original story.
The concert was also announced “NARUTO THE LIVE“, which will take place on September 2 and 3, 2023 in Japan and will feature multiple artists who have participated in the theme songs for both anime franchises.
