Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris suffered a horrific leg injury on Saturday night.
In the fourth quarter of a 33-31 loss once morest the Calgary Stampeders, the former Montreal Alouettes saw one of his rivals fall on his right knee. His leg then bent the wrong way.
Harris, who opted out of the Sparrows when the last free agent market opened in the Canadian Football League, had to leave the field on a stretcher.
“We really don’t want to lose him. We’re going to cross our fingers and hope his season isn’t over,” Roughriders head coach Craig Dickenson said at his post-game press conference.
On Sunday, the Saskatchewan organization indicated that its athlete had suffered a tibial plateau fracture in his right knee and that he was going to have surgery.
“We are confident that Trevor will fully recover and we are not yet ready to say he will not play once more this year,” the Roughriders also said.
In five games in 2023, Harris completed 104 of 155 passes for 1,274 yards and six touchdowns. He was also the victim of four interceptions.
