Chamundi is a film directed by Manoj Kumar starring Sarathkumar. This film played a crucial role in raising the star value of Sarath Kumar in Tamil Nadu. Malayali cameraman Utpal V. is sharing his experiences of working with Sarath Kumar in the film. Nayanar. He talked regarding the film Chamundi in an interview given to Master Bin Channel.

Tamil Superstar Sarathkumar was the first to set up a camera. It is a movie of Raja Kaliamman Movies. I have worked in many of their films. After working as an assistant camera for 10 years, when I started working as an independent, I had a fever. I can say that the cameraman was more responsible than the director.

I have worked as an assistant cameraman in many of Sarathkumar’s films. In Tamil, artistes don’t do much interaction. There is so much respect. That is Tamil culture. I have a good relationship with Sarathkumar. He has done many films with him. There is good support. Do not sit on the other side holding the muscle. If something happens, it will become a joke. Once upon a time it was Vatapoda level. Sarathkumar was originally a producer. Took a couple of pictures and snapped. Acting started following that.

I was the cameraman for Sarathkumar’s Chamundi. The shoot was for 60 days. Sarathkumar is a good artist. The body will be well maintained. Kanaka is the heroine in it. The film ran for 150 days in Tamil Nadu.

There is a scene of Sarathkumar in Chamundi. While traveling in the bus, the top bar is pulled angrily. It was pulled by the spot itself. Not a camera trick. He will maintain his body well. Before that, his film Suriya was also a super hit. After this also became a hit, Sarathkumar’s level changed,’ Utpal V. Nayanar said.
