Sara and Andreas bought an old house – but what awaited shocked them

The 267 square meter home dates from 1912 and previously functioned as a merchant’s farm.

Already a few weeks before the couple took over the large house, Andreas was allowed to start moving in. Just so quietly.

One day, one of the then owners of the house was lighting up the stone oven in the kitchen, after which a very special smell spread.

According to Andreas, it suddenly smelled like Midsummer Eve. A mixture of wood and powerful herbs.

It turned out to be sage.

In addition to its culinary uses, sage also has a long history in folk medicine.

But sage is also used in some cultures for ritual purposes, where it is burned as incense to purify a room.

Or to ensure good energy.

The feeling of being watched

Finally, Sara and Andreas moved into their new home.

The eight rooms need a loving hand, and the couple are busy renovating the house, which they expect will be their dream home. And where the couple will open a tattoo parlor.

They feel that each room has a life of its own and nothing is like anything they have seen before.

For example, brightly colored tiles have been installed in several places – also on the chimney.

And the conservatory – or orangery – with fig plants, grapes and cabbage, is a wonderful breather.

Crooked shelves

Andreas is certainly no craftsman.

But now it had to be. And perhaps because everything was already out of order in the old house, Andreas decided to throw himself into the work of renovating all the glory.

It was in the middle of working on a couple of large rooms at the east end of the house that he felt it for the first time.

Not a nice place

There was something about the east wing that made the hairs stand on end. Andreas could not put it into words, but he knew that he would prefer to avoid the room.

The couple experienced that strange feeling of being watched.

That you can feel a presence. Having someone stare at you, which is a condition most people have experienced.

After all, humans are social beings and have developed the ability to feel when they are being watched.

And a room that’s a little too quiet, shadows that fall differently, or sounds in the distance can trigger a feeling of discomfort that our brain interprets as a form of surveillance.

At least that’s the rational explanation.

And Andreas is happy to buy that explanation.

Lost the desire

In the beginning, Andreas’s instinctive reaction therefore struck.

When he suddenly lost the desire to be in the room, he thought it was probably just because he didn’t care anymore that day. Or maybe it was because he hadn’t slept well.

Sara also describes the strange experiences. She tells how it was impossible to look away from a certain point in the room.

– It was as if you almost turned around by reflex. And stared at the same point, she says.

And the situation was certainly not improved by the fact that the couple’s two cats often sat completely still and glared in the same direction.

– It was a strange, oppressive atmosphere. And definitely a feeling that we were not alone. And it is difficult to explain logically or scientifically. But that’s how it was, says Andreas.

But the atmosphere in the house became even worse.

The door on the first floor

On the 1st floor, there is a Alex Reed room that Sara and Andreas currently use as a bedroom.

But when they moved in, the room wasn’t used.

There is of course a door to the Alex Reed room. A rather heavy door, indeed.

At first, Sara and Andreas did not think that there was something wrong with the door.

When they were sure they had closed the door, it was suddenly open. And vice versa.

Noted it down

The couple had some cheerful discussions about it. And it ended with Sara and Andreas writing down in their note function on the mobile phone that the door was now closed.

The next day the door was open again.

Andreas first of all investigated whether the door, floors or frame were crooked or broken. Was there a draft? In any case, the door was far too heavy for the cats to push open.

The fact was that the door kept opening. And in.

As mentioned, Andreas pays tribute to everything that has to do with the logical sense.

– But what we experienced was completely crazy. It is not logical and is almost completely laughable. And it’s almost shameful to talk about, says Andreas.

Still, he eventually decided to share his experiences with a colleague – both about the strange door and the feeling of being watched.

A little anticlimax

The colleague in question gave Sara and Andreas a telephone number for a clairvoyant.

The clairvoyant was in Copenhagen and did not need to meet them or visit the house.

All he asked for was the address and a picture of the main entrance. Andreas was skeptical from the first second.

After this, the Clairvoyant would “cleanse” the house – even he was in the capital.

– And then I had to transfer a thousand kroner. And I was absolutely sure that I might as well have thrown the money out the window, says Andreas.

After that it was just a matter of waiting. And the couple might have expected something like the plates would fly out of the cupboards and the furniture would turn upside down.

– But nothing happened. And it was a bit of an anti-climax, says Sara. With a smile.

Releases energies

The clairvoyant said that when renovating old houses, some “energies” can be released.

And in the house in Em, it was, among other things, a deceased, younger female resident who was certainly not keen that the young couple allowed themselves to start an extensive renovation.

The fact is that the oppressive atmosphere disappeared. The feeling of being watched has also evaporated. The cats, who had been staring at the same point before, were now lying lazily and panting in the corner.

And the door on the first floor is closed – when it is closed.

Andreas is left and doesn’t quite know how to put “it all” into words.

– I still only believe in what science can point out. And maybe our experiences are just something psychological. Perhaps we found some psychological security in all that the clairvoyant told.

– We put our trust in him, and then suddenly we achieve peace of mind. I still don’t believe in ghosts. And I know this all sounds crazy. But in a special way, I still think it’s important that we tell the story, says Andreas Feltmann Kosela.

How did Sara and Andreas’ perspective on their home’s mysterious happenings change over time?

After the payment to the ⁤clairvoyant, Andreas and Sara waited with a mix of skepticism and curiosity. They found it‍ difficult to believe that someone could cleanse their home from ⁤afar, yet they ⁣had reached⁤ a point where they were willing to try anything. The anticipation was almost as strange as the door itself.

Days passed, and the door continued to behave erratically.⁣ With each open and close, it became a running joke between them, a quirky part of their new home. It brought light-hearted banter into their daily lives, despite the initial frustrations.

⁤ A New Perspective

Over time, they began to embrace the idea that perhaps their home ⁤was simply “alive” in its own way. The⁤ door‍ could be perceived‌ as a manifestation of the house’s character, a reminder of its history ⁣and the memories it holds. The unusual phenomena ⁤became endearing rather than unsettling.

Sara, inspired, even contemplated decorating the Alex Reed ‍room to transform it into a more welcoming space—a sanctuary for both guests and themselves. The odd happenings had inadvertently pushed them to ⁢bond over⁤ their shared experience, strengthening their relationship.

As they painted walls and chose new bedding, they ‌joked about evoking ‌the spirit of the door ⁣to help with their design choices. Laughter ⁣filled the air as they discussed what kind of ghost might inhabit their home, imagining a friendly entity ⁢that just wanted to be part of their lives.

 Moving Forward

Eventually, they received a message from the clairvoyant. He claimed to have sensed a ‌light presence lingering in the home, an entity connected to the history of the house. He advised them to acknowledge it, suggesting they set aside ⁤a⁤ small‌ space ⁣where they could welcome this presence. Rather than viewing it with apprehension, Sara ⁢and⁢ Andreas took it as an opportunity for creativity.

They dedicated a corner of the Alex Reed room to display meaningful items—photos, candles, and a ⁢small welcome mat labeled “Home.” The peculiar door continued to sway mysteriously, but now it felt like a part of a larger story, one that they were both eager to write together.

With each passing day, Sara and Andreas found peace ‌in their decisions and the door became a symbol of their journey, a‌ reflection of their openness to the⁢ unknown and their commitment to making the house their home.
