Sapphire launches 8GB AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card for the first time

Sapphire was the first manufacturer to officially announce the 8GB version of the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card.

Sapphire launches AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card 8GB model for the first time as AIB

Sapphire unveiled its latest graphics card on its Twitter with a custom-designed PULSE variation with dual slots and dual fan coolers.

The AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT was first launched with 4GB GDDR6, but now AIB is licensed to launch as much as 8GB.

The AMD Navi 24 GPU on the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card, internally called the “Beige Goby”, is the smallest in the RDNA 2 lineup and features a single SDMA engine. ..

Two shader arrays with a total of 8 WGP and up to 16 Compute Units. The Radeon RX 6500 XT has 1024 cores, but it’s not the most entry-level GPU SKU in the RDNA 2 family, and its matching is held by the Radeon RX 6400.

In addition to the number of cores, each shader array will have 128KB of L1 cache, 1MB of L2 cache, and 16MB of Infinity Cache (LLC).

The GPU “AMD Navi 24 RDNA 2” for the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card is equipped with a 64-bit bus interface.

The memory clock will be 18Gbps, the total bandwidth will be 144GB / s, and the effective bandwidth (when using Infinity Cache) will be 232GB / s.

The nominal clocks are Game 2610MHz and Boost 2815MHz, but Sapphire’s AIB model runs at high clocks such as Game 2695MHz and Boost 2855MHz.

These clocks are higher than the 4 GB PULSE Radeon RX 6500 XT variations that come with 2685 MHz games and 2825 MHz boost clocks.

The Sapphire Radeon RX 6500 XT PULSE graphics card is currently available in both 8GB and 4GB variations.

Both models have a TBP of 130W, which is 23W higher than the official TBP of 107W.

The price is undecided, but given that the RX 6500 XT 4GB model is currently priced well below $ 200, the 8GB model should be priced close to $ 200.

Regarding GPU performance, it seems that there is no big difference due to the addition of VRAM, but it seems that the overall performance will improve slightly by clocking up.

Commentary:

8GB version of RX6500XT will be released

It seems that Asrock is preparing the product.

On Twitter, some people mistakenly think that the 8GB version has a bus width of 128bit, but since the Infinity cache is 16MB, it’s probably 64bit.

If you look closely at the photo, you can see that the parts are soldered only to the first X4 part, and the rest are open.

It’s not clear from the photo if the slot is engraved following X4 minutes, but it’s probably.

Unfortunately, this means that the RX6500XT 8GB version also inherits the unfortunate characteristics of the 4GB version.

The RX5500XT was a PCIe X8 with a 128-bit memory, so if you have the next RX7500XT, I definitely want you to use the X8’s 128-bit bus.

However, since RDNA2 (probably), the Infinity cache is allocated for each memory bus width, and when it reaches the 128-bit bus width, it rebounds to the number of transistors and the cost increases.

AMD seems to think that there is no point in putting it out in that case.

From RDNA3, the Infinity cache is 32MB for every 64bit, which is twice that of RDNA2, so it seems that the performance will be improved to some extent.

It is very likely that the 64-bit bus and X4 cannot be changed due to cost issues.

If the RX7500XT is planned, please publicize the difference in cost between the 128-bit bus X8 and the 64-bit bus X4 without escaping properly to promote its usefulness. By the way.

The RX6500XT was hit by users quite a bit because of its disappointing performance, but it might have been evaluated differently if we might openly publicize that it was a product that puts the highest priority on cost without escaping properly.

Of course, there is no explanation from AMD’s formula, and this is my prediction, so it may not always be the case.

However, with that in mind, the RX6500XT may be a pity that the lack of information has downgraded the product.
