São Paulo participates in the BIG Festival 2023 to present business opportunities in the Games and E-sports sector in the city
Main center of creativity and business in games in Brazil, the city of São Paulo participates in the BIG Festival and will exhibit its initiatives and programs to support the electronic games and e-sports sector during the 2023 edition of the BIG Festival, the biggest games festival in Latin America, which takes place from June 28 to July 2, 2023, at São Paulo Expo.
The participation of the City Hall of São Paulo is promoted by SP Negócios,
Promotion of Investments and Exports in the city, and by Ade Sampa, São Paulo Development Agency, which together will have a stand at the event and will hold the “SP Tech Summit Games”, a circuit of lectures and content that has the mission of exposing the panorama of the gaming sector in the city of São Paulo.

“The gaming industry is constantly growing, with an annual turnover of more than US＄ 200 billion. In Brazil, the scenario is no different, more than 75% of Brazilians are fans of some type of electronic game, being dominated by women, who make up more than 53% of the amount. The São Paulo City Hall is a great partner in the sector and could not fail to participate in the Big festival, an initiative that strengthens the games market, in addition to promoting tourism and the economic development of the Capital”, declares the Secretary for Economic Development and Work, Aline Cardoso.
Participation of more than 15 companies
During the four days of the event, more than 15 companies from the sector and specialists in the area will be part of this program that will show the potential of the games and e-sports sector in the city, present public and private development lines, offer ways for professionalization and structuring of business, in addition to offering insights to generate even more value for the São Paulo ecosystem.
“The games sector is one of the most prosperous in the country and the city of São Paulo is at the heart of the development of this ecosystem. Participating in the BIG Festival is an opportunity for the city to publicize the actions and public policies developed in favor of the development of the Games and E-Sports sector, which promotes technological innovation, in addition to generating business and highly qualified jobs”, says Michael Sotelo Cerqueira, Director of Investments at SP Negócios.

The public at the event will also have the opportunity to learn about and experience the games developed by companies accelerated by Sampa Games, a program run by the City of São Paulo aimed at companies or game groups, which aims to encourage the inclusion of low-income youth in the entrepreneurship, innovation and technology ecosystem in São Paulo.
For Renan Vieira, president of Ade Sampa, the city has entrepreneurs with great growth potential, which is why the agency, together with the City Hall, continues to invest in acceleration programs such as Sampa Games. “We understand that the process of accelerating small businesses, especially when we are talking about technology, goes beyond financial support and mentoring. It is necessary to give these accelerated opportunities access to the market, formation of contact networks and, mainly, exposure of their products. And that’s what Sampa Games offers”.
