MEXICO CITY (AP) — Santos and León will decide the last team classified in the group for the title of the Apertura tournament in Mexico when they meet on Sunday in the last game of the qualifying round known as ‘Play-In’.
With a double from Argentine Juan Brunetta, the Warriors reached the prelude to the final phase following beating Mazatlán 2-1.
“The team’s performance and the results are exciting us, I think Santos is qualified to be champion,” said Uruguayan coach Pablo Repetto, who is in his first full tournament leading the Laguneros.
With a preseason to work on, the Warriors finished ninth in the standings, but closed the regular schedule with three wins in their last four games. In addition, they lost by the minimum once morest América and Tigres, who were first and third, respectively.

“The priority is getting a ticket to the league because we have a pending balance with our people,” said Larcamón. “We have one last train and we have to take it together with all our people.”
León has won the last two matches between the two, including the Apertura match where they won 2-0 on matchday 12.
If La Fiera manages to maintain that trend, it will take over eighth place in the league and a confrontation once morest the leader América.
In the other quarterfinal matches, Monterrey (2) will face San Luis (7), Tigres (3) will clash with Puebla (6) and Pumas (4) will face Chivas (5).
The match will take place at the León stadium at 8:06 p.m. local time (02:06 GMT).
