Port officers from the Port Authority of Santorini proceeded to arrest two foreigners, aged 47 and 27.
In particular, following the detection of a sailboat with 65 people, in the sea area of 12.5 n.m. south of Thira, on Saturday July 13, by the Port Authority of Thira, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, in cooperation with officers of the Maritime Border Security and Protection Directorate (DAPTHAS), the EYP and an echelon of EUROPOL, two (02) foreigners aged 47 and 27 years of the aforementioned, for violation of Law 5038/2023 “Immigration Code”, Law 3386/2005 “Illegal entry into the country”, articles 47 “Cooperator”, 306 “Report” and article 187 of the P. K. “Criminal Organization”, reports the voria.gr website.
According to the protothema, the sailboat had set off from the Turkish coast bound for Italy, while the foreigners each paid approximately 6,500 dollars (almost 6,000 euros) for their transport.
